2021 IVF World Distance Championship Postponement to 2023

The International Va’a Federation has accepted a request from the Samoa Outrigger Canoe Association (SOCA) and the Samoa Government to postpone the 2021 IVF World Distance Championships to 2023 due to the ongoing effects of COVID-19.

Due to the current situation facing the world and the ongoing level of uncertainty, SOCA has requested the postponement in order to ensure the continued safety of the Samoan people and those who wish to attend.

The International Va’a Federation understands that all of our member countries have been hit hard by COVID and this is another blow in what has been a very difficult year. It is, however, our priority to look after the health, safety and wellbeing of our membership to the best of our ability and to ensure that
IVF World Championship events are not only viable but can be attended by all countries who wish to attend.

We thank the Samoa Outrigger Canoe Association and the Samoa Government for their hard work to date and appreciate the difficult decision they have been faced with. We look forward to working closely with SOCA leading up to and in 2023.
