Samantha Moikeha (Hawai'i)
Samantha Moikeha is from Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi, where her ʻohana has long been connected to Outrigger Canoe Paddling. Having been involved in the sport her entire life, paddling has become inseparable from who she is — a tradition passed down through generations and one she continues to honour today.
Samantha previously served as the Race Commissioner for the Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association (HCRA), where she was involved in every aspect of organising the Annual State Championship Race. This experience deepened her understanding of the sport at a national level and strengthened her commitment to supporting its growth.
For Samantha, paddling is a link between past, present, and future. It is how she strengthens relationships with her ʻohana and stays connected to the values that guide her. Family remains her foundation, and much if not all of her time outside of Vaʻa is spent with them.
As a member of the IVF Board, Samantha serves as the Vice President and hopes to use her experience and strengths to support the global development of Vaʻa. Her vision is to help create opportunities that allow the sport to flourish worldwide and continue building strong, connected communities

Trish Johnston (Australia)
Trish began her paddling journey in 1990, back when Australia had just 11 paddling clubs. After several years competing at a high level, she shifted her focus to supporting the sport behind the scenes, becoming a dedicated AOCRA administrator. Trish was elected to the AOCRA board at the 1998 AGM and went on to serve as Treasurer, Vice President, and President, dedicating an impressive 21 consecutive years to the board - seven of those as President.

Beyond AOCRA, Trish served as the Australian representative to the International Va’a Federation (IVF) for a decade (2010–2020) and has been a familiar face at most IVF meetings since. She contributed her expertise on the IVF Medical and Rules Committees and played a pivotal role as Race Director for the 2016 IVF World Elite and Club Sprint Championships and the 2019 IVF Long Distance Championships, both hosted in Australia.
Throughout her 21 years on the AOCRA board, Trish has been a driving force in event planning and operations, volunteering her time, advice, and expertise generously. Her unwavering commitment and deep knowledge of paddling make her an invaluable addition to the IVF Board.

Paula Haito Tribaldos (Panama)
Paula Haito Tribaldos is a Panamanian sports-medicine professional and Vaʻa advocate based in Panama City, whose involvement in the Va’a world is rooted in service, leadership, and deep respect for the sport’s cultural heritage. After spending two decades in Miami developing an international career in sports medicine, Paula returned to Panama in 2009 and reconnected with the national sporting community through her work in athlete health, performance, and injury prevention. Her first exposure to paddling came through Panama’s iconic Ocean to Ocean Cayuco Race. In 2014, alongside her husband, Paula became a founding member of the Panama Outrigger Club, the first Vaʻa and Outrigger club officially recognized by Panama’s Sports Ministry. From its inception, she played an active role in building the sport locally
Her involvement expanded to the international stage in 2018, when she served as Panamanian Delegate to the Pan American Vaʻa Championships in Brazil. That same year, she assumed the role of Secretary of the Panama Outrigger Club.

Paula currently serves as a Board Member of the IVF, where she contributes at a global level. In this role, her focus is on supporting the sustainable growth of Vaʻa across Latin America, assisting emerging federations in neighboring countries, and learning from the experience of long-standing leaders to strengthen the sport worldwide. Paula is a part of the Para Va’a committee where she aids in the positive growth and development of the sport within this community. She has recently completed in Japan, the Level 3 Para Va’ certification course.  Family is central to Paula’s connection to Vaʻa. She shares the sport with her husband Juan Carlos and son Alejandro, viewing paddling not only as competition, but as a vehicle for cultural connection, personal growth, family and community building.
Professionally, Paula is a Certified Athletic Trainer and founder of a private sports-medicine practice specializing in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and athlete performance. She also serves as part of the medical staff of the Panamanian Olympic Committee, bringing high-performance and athlete-centered principles into every space she serves. Through her combined experience in medicine, sport governance, and grassroots development, Paula continues to advocate for Vaʻa as a discipline that unites culture, performance, health, and international collaboration.
